68th Annual Conference This year’s theme, “Reconciliation & Restoration,” emerged from last year's theme of “Harmony & Discord.” While last year’s theme focused on contrasting ideas, this year’s theme focuses on restoring relationships when rebuilding healthy communities and cultures. We see reconciliation as a healing process that allows individuals and groups to address tensions. We understand restoration as a means to rebuild communities and cultures through healthy discourse.
We’ll be excited to see abstract proposals that interpret this year’s theme from an American Studies perspective. We’d like prospective presenters to write abstracts that examine the complex relationship between Reconciliation & Restoration, but we’ll also consider presentations dealing with issues relating to American culture, especially ones that focus on Texas, the South – or the Southwest.
